The last decisions of the Nationale 2 regular season have been found this weekend as the 6 teams qualified for the Playoffs are known.
With a clear victory in Mondorf, the Hedgehogs Bascharage underlined their excellent season with a 6th place that was not really something that the observers thought of last summer. But the team of coach Ostojic had a great duo in John Holmes and the assimilated Ivan Tomas that most of the team could not stop. Tomas showed in Mondorf that he can not only score but also defend as he held Yves Braun to only 15 points in this decisive game. The victory of Grengewald against Racing shows the current downwards trend of the team from the capital that plays without an US player right now. Black Star Mersch found its way back to success after their disaster in Contern by beating BC Mess in Mondercange. Contern destroyed the Kordallsteelers while Kayldall earned an important win in Arlon that will lose Sean Black for the rest of the season according to our infos.
This weekend, all the games can already be considered as playoff games as the points earned now will help the teams during the final run. Contern should be able to increase its lead by winning in Kayldall. Black Star has to win against Racing at home in order to solidify their 2nd place in the ranking and remain a favorite for the promotion. The Hedgehogs will host Arlon in a game where the guys around Ivan Tomas can get another win. Mondorf will play at home against Grengwald. The locals will most likely try to win this one in order to increase the gap to the relegation spots even if it will be very difficult for Arlon to stay in the league. BC Mess has to win against Kordall on the road.

Five teams have reached the Nationale Top 6 already with still 3 games to go. Here we go for the review of the situation and the outlook to the coming weekend.
With the combination of a Grengewald Hostert win over Pall Basket Arel and the defeat of Avanti Mondorf against Racing, the team of coach Achten is now sure to be among the top 6 teams for the Playoffs. Racing used the foul trouble of Trenton Wurtz to outplay Mondorf in the second half despite the 33 points of Yves Braun. With 5 players in double-figures, the team from the capital was a lot more successful than the one-man show from the South. The Hedgehogs came up with a huge win over BC Mess and are now very close to be among the top 6 as well. Ivan Tomas was once again unstoppable with 28 points for the Brewing City team while Mess was lead by the 36 of Domonique Crawford. AB Contern totally crashed Black Star Mersch as they were up with an incredible 50- 26 at halftime. Three players (Fuller, Butler, Kuhlmann) above twenty points was too much for a shorthanded Black Star team. Kayldall won the must win against Kordall to make a big step for avoiding the relegation.
The main game next weekend will be the match-up between Mondorf and the Hedgehogs as it is the last chance for the guys around Braun to reach the playoffs. They need to beat the Hedgehogs by at least 9 points to still have a theoretical chance to avoid the playdowns. AB Contern should normally destroy the Kordallsteelers while Pall Basket Arel will try to gain one of their few games against Kayldall. The games BC Mess versus Black Star and Racing versus Grengewald will be important for the further development of the season as these teams will meet again in the Playoffs for the promotion to the Diekirch League.
