The second day of the Nationale 2 brought everything back to the beginning as the wins of Nitia and Mondorf mean that these two teams are again at the top of the standings with 0.5 points of difference above the two others.
Avanti Mondorf, with their new head coach Gilles Becker, totally destroyed BC Mess and brought them back to reality after their opening win. With Dominique Lacy limited to 13pts and nobody else in double-figures, it was impossible for them to earn a second success as Mondorf was too strong.
The coaching change may start new energies for the veteran team from the South and bring them to their declared goal which is the Diekirch League. Bettembourg replied well to their opening defeat and overcame Heffingen in the second half behind a great defensive effort and despite the absence of Stephane Ribeiro. Both winners from the 2nd game day will face each other now on Saturday for the game that matters not only in terms of victories but also for the direct advantage in points difference if both teams might finish with the same points.
This also works for the game between Mess and Heffingen where both teams want to win as high as possible to be prepared for an eventual tie in the end.
In the Play-downs, Racing and Grengewald underlined their status as Nationale 2 teams after the opening defeats. It will be tough for Arantia Larochette to stay in the League but they have the best opportunity to do so as they face the Red Miners on Saturday in a game that can already decide on their future. The winner of the game between Racing and Grengewald will already be pretty sure to stay in the League for next season

The first week of the Play-offs has seen some highly interesting results that give an indication of what will happen in the Nationale 2 before the end of the season.
In the Top4, BC Mess came up with a hard-fought win over BBC Nitia behind the great effort of their new US-player Dominique Lacy. The forward scored 35pts and got a good scoring support by the veteran Chris Schreiner with 14 while the Greens could see the come-back of Jo Hoeser after his injury.
The Nitia offense was only working during the first quarter and the team around Billy Arre came up with their second-worst offensive effort of the season with only 69 scored points. US Heffingen crashed Avanti Mondorf that not only lost the game but also their coach Guy Konsbrück who got disqualified during the game and is not the head coach of Avanti anymore. It’s quite a bad start into the Play-offs for the team from the South while Heffingen imposes himself as the favorite of the Top4. The team of coach Paterno will travel to Bettembourg for a game that will already be decisive for the hosts. Bettembourg wants to show that they are better than during the opener and need a win to remain in the race for the Diekirch League.
Mess will play in Mondorf where it is not very sure how the hosts will react to what happened in Heffingen last weekend.

In the Play-downs, Arantia Larochette has officially started their come-back race by the destruction of Racing at home. With their new US player Mike Jones, they had no problems and were in front right from the start against a handicapped Racing team where several starters are out because of injuries. The Red Miners won their opener against Grengewald and put Racing into the second-last place in the Ranking. The team from the capital will play a capital game this weekend against the Red Miners while Arantia will travel to Oberanven for their second game of the “Mission Impossible”.
